Recent site updates: 3rd June 2007
After a recent demonstration it was painfully obvious how clunky the image upload facility was when writing articles or editorials. The image upload system has been overhauled and is now much more efficient. There are plans to add extra features in order to increase functionality.
Layout problems with the site in general were noted recently in ie6. These have been corrected.
Recent site updates: 1st June 2007
Updated the Registration page as the file size was huge and possibly unusable for those on dial-up. Apologies to those who have had issues with it. The old registration page is still available for those who may have issue with the new registration page.
Added links to Council websites and to Online Access Centres.
Corrected several major bugs which crept into the site during a recent upgrade of the site incorporated in order to allow consistent content. eeks.
Recent site updates: 1st May 2007
We recently added the "quick find" option for people who want to check specific places rather than explore regions and towns.
Another addition was the sitemap in order to supply a nearly full set of links to all the site. The primary reason was to make the site accessable to those who may have issues with javascript (i.e older browsers, screenreaders, etc.), and text based browsers. The sitemap also helps to make the site searchable by search engines.
We have updated the authoring system for news stories and editorials hopefully making it easier to publish.
The site is progressing slowly, and we have taken our time to promote it in order to make sure everything is running ok. There are still elements to be developed and put in place.
Launch the site to the general public: 1st March 2007

Welcome to SouthernGateway.com.au
Today we finally launch the site to the general public, after having had a private launch, and inviting colleagues to test the site before the more general public launch.
Many problems and possible issues with usability were identified and corrected during our private launch. We have not corrected everything, and hope that once the site is used often enough problems will be corrected acording to general concensus.
The site is still in a very early state of flux, so please let us know if you encounter any problems.
Regards, Webmaster.
